Passion For The Ocean, Inspired By Coastal Living

Me...

I sometimes wonder if I was born with paper and scissors in one hand and needle and thread in the other, so strong is my compulsion to make.

I grew up on the south coast of England and dreamed of a creative life but, steered to a more ‘sensible’ career, I studied law at University in London and worked as a lawyer for many years.

Well, you can take the girl out of her passion, but you can't take the passion out of this girl and I grabbed every opportunity to create.

In a turning point a few years ago, I joined an art group and Richenda McGregor’s Studio 45 Pottery Hub on the Dartington Estate and loved learning new skills.

The more I created, the more I was compelled to create and unable to resist any longer, I finally made the leap to follow my heart.

Today, with a passion for the ocean inspired by coastal living, I work at my home studio in Devon, exhibiting and selling in a creative life that's so much more than even the girl dared to dream.

I hope you love my work as much as I love making it.

Commissions...

I love to create bespoke artwork and whether it’s a shoal of fish for a calming air, a colourful celebration of life on the water or coastal art to share stories of 'good ocean news,' I’d love to help.

Include Elements Of Your Scheme

The process begins with a chat about your art needs, including the environment in which the work is to be hung, scale, palette, framing and budget.

Commissioned artwork is very personal, so I will spend time helping to find a creative solution that works perfectly for you and your space.

After agreeing the brief, a deposit is requested to cover framing and materials’ costs, enabling me to start work.

Contact me to chat about how I can help. I’d love to hear from you!

Passion For The Ocean…

I have lived near the coast most of my life yet always thought of seaweed as something to be avoided, a ‘nuisance’ when it tangled around my leg as I swam out to sea.

This changed when I learned about the work of Blue Marine Foundation, a UK based charity campaigning against the global subsidised industrial fishing practises so damaging to marine biodiversity and ocean resilience.

Allow Nature To

Repair And Restore

In addition to their campaigns, Blue Marine has been instrumental in creating marine reserves around the world, including the UK’s first (and only!) National Marine Park on my doorstep at Plymouth Sound.

It is both humbling and exciting to volunteer at the Park, especially as it begins the delivery phase of this incredibly ambitious project - and now with a new-found love and respect for seaweed!

Read more about Blue Marine Foundation in my Blog post here.

I would recommend Amanda’s art, for sure. It’s high quality, quirky,

beautifully framed and original’
